One of the most common questions we get is, “How do I know my responses are anonymous?” Which is completely understandable. This blog post explains how we ensure the anonymity of workplace reviews.
Our promise to you is that we do not combine answers or demographic information (gender, age, ethnicity, job function, etc) in a way that can indirectly reveal your identity. We are an independent company and we will never share any of your personal data with your employer.
Short answer: Your answers get mixed in with others' responses.
Longer answer: When you respond to the review questions, your answers are not published as one complete review, but each answer is mixed up with everyone else's responses and presented as part of a combined average. We require at least five reviews about a company before reviews are published about that company.
Short answer: Nope.
Longer answer: Data is only presented from answers that have recived five or more answers from a subgroup. For example, if we filter ratings based on gender, we will not present answers from women and men until there are at least five women and five men in the same company that has left a review. The same goes for ethnicity, disability, age, etc.
Short answer: If you choose to be.
Longer answer: At end end of the workplace review, you have the option add a review using free text. The free text you choose to submit can be read by everyone on the platform, so please make sure to not write anything that may compromise your identity if you do not wish to do so.
Short answer: The grand total of you!
Longer answer: Only you can see the specific company you have reviewed in your account settings, but for security reasons you cannot see the actual review itself. No one can. However, all free text you submit in the review will be published on the company profile page for everyone to see (unless it's breaking our Code of Conduct guidelines and is flagged). You will remain anonymous even when you log in/sign-up. We encrypt your login information so that it can't be connected to your review.
We kindly ask reviewers to log in and signup in order to avoid false reviews. This also gives you the ability to delete your review, and to provide you with relevant information if you want us to.
We understand that remaining anonymous is extremely important and something that many people take into consideration when leaving reviews of their workplace. We hope this post gave you some clarity and answers to the questions you've had. For more insights on Equality Check such as on how we calcualate company scores, check out our FAQ page.
